HOW KEITH CAN HELP YOU

As an independent researcher Keith’s focus is on patient-centricity, serving academia, life science researchers, healthcare agencies, medical and pharmaceutical industry across a range of conditions and diseases.

The support you will receive will enable you through the use of mixed methods including patient narratives,** to obtain valuable information about the patient experience that PROM numerical ratings fail to capture and which can enhance patient-centred care.

Currently, the development and use of Patient Reported Outcomes (PROMs) situates them at the vertex of two very different trends in medicine which are patient-centred care and standardization. Standardization, however, calls for the nomothetic approach* which suggests that it is possible to measure behaviour and experience independent of context, arguably resulting in the elimination of the features that are the hallmarks of patient-centred care.

FOOTNOTES

* The nomothetic approach compares individuals in terms of traits or dimensions common to everyone.

** There are a number of methods for acquiring narrative data which include conversations, observation, autobiographies, transcripts of in-depth interviews, focus groups, diaries, letters, etc.
